This is going to be massive in 2011. With the amount of people using smart phones these days the market is app-solutely huge and getting bigger and bigger everyday. All you have to do is come up with a good idea for an app. It could be a game, a puzzle, an alarm clock, a pedometer, a calorie counter, a cook book, something that makes strange noise when you press a button, a whoopee cushion, a joke book, a jigsaw puzzle, a cartoon or interactive story book for children, absolutely anything. Pet Sitting.

If you enjoy looking after animals then this one could be of interest. Once you’re happy and ready to move on, you could then become a team leader and start recruiting more people to deliver catalogues and start growing your business from there.

Party Organiser

Typical companies like Vie at Home, Ann Summers or Avon have very good commission rates and training packages. Being a party organiser can be a very good second income. If you enjoy travelling and meeting new people generally in a party atmosphere then this could be for you. You are normally expected to host around 1 party per week which normally lasts 2-3 hours. You also get good discounts on the products.

Diet Consultant

Adult men and women tend to go on various types of diets on a regular basis, whether it’s just for a special occasion such as a wedding or a holiday or maybe they had a blow out over the Christmas period and need to get back into their work clothes. They generally turn to organisations such as Weight Watchers, Slimming World, Lighter Life or the Cambridge Diet etc. If you decided to become a consultant you would be given the necessary training and receive commission for every person that signed up. The main difference being with the larger companies such as Weight Watchers and Slimming World you would normally need to host at least two 2 hour meetings a week from a venue such as church hall or local community centre, whereas with the newer companies you would normally host a meeting once a week from your home. Either way they are both good sources of income.

Booze Delivery

Alcohol Delivery is relatively new thing due to the 24hr licences, but it’s a big hit in most places. The concept is simple, buy cheap alcohol from Wholesalers and Cash n Carries, and then add £5-£10 on top of the Retail Price, plus delivery. Bob’s your Uncle. The biggest down side is that the main demand for this will probably be during the silent hours from 11pm until around 5-6am on weekends.

Fast-food Delivery

Do you recall those times where you’re sat in the house with your family on Saturday night. You all want takeaway food, but you can’t really decide what you want. Everyone wants different stuff; no-one wants to drive all over to get it all. Well this is where the Fast Food Delivery Business would come in. You could contact all the local fast food places within, say a 5 mile radius, The Chippies, The Kebab Shops, The Indians, The Chinese, Gregg’s, McDonalds, KFC, Burger king and any Health Food, Vegetarian places or Sandwich shops. It would probably take less than half an hour. I would imagine the best times would be Weekend mornings when people are hung over and want a bacon sandwich or an all day breakfast and can’t be bothered to cook, dinnertimes for Corporate and Office Workers where everyone wants something different, and as already mentioned, evenings when groups of families and friends can’t decide who wants what. You could also add a Smart Phone App and a Facebook page to be able to download and have access to the menus; this would cut the costs of printing and delivering the menus.

Unique Art Seller

This is quite a simple concept; depending on how you run it, the overheads can be relatively low also. It probably helps if you have an interest or a passion for art and paintings. You could start by contacting students studying art at local Colleges and Universities and let them know about your business. How it would work is; the students would bring in their paintings and art work to your shop and you would sell it for them. You could either have set prices or work on commission, that’s entirely up to you. So your shop is completely full of stock that hasn’t cost you anything, its all unique art work so you couldn’t purchase it anywhere else, its completely original. You could even offer a Framing Service for extra income.

Hourly Child Relief Service

For this I suppose you would need to be some sort of registered child minder and have all your criminal background checks in place. The idea is simple, when you are out shopping in the busy shopping centres, sometimes your children can be a bit of a burden. Well this business offers an hourly child minding service. A place where you could drop your child off for a couple of hours whilst you get your shopping done, knowing that they will be safe and looked after properly. Ideally the shop premises would be in the middle of the shopping centre, with lots of toys to keep the kids occupied and baby changing facilities. Organise Car Boot Sales

Find locations such as unused Farmers Fields, Leisure Centre Sports Halls or Large Car Parks. Separate the area into plots and charge per plot and an Entrance Fee. You may need to arrange car parking and toilet facilities to persuade people to travel to your event. You will also need to contact your local council to apply for any permits needed. If organised correctly, this can turn into a very successful and very profitable business.

Inventor/Patent Seller

If you are creative and enjoy coming up with new concepts and inventions then there might be something in this for you. If you come up with a design, you could build and put together the design yourself or you could contact a local university who would do it for a small fee. Then once you have the design the next step is to get a patent for it. Once you have your patent then you could either try to market your design or you could use a patent auction website such as patentsforsale.co.uk or patentauction.com and just sell your patents.
